cake to cupcake recipe conversion

I have a 3 layer carrot cake recipe that I want to convert to cup cakes to take to a party at a state park. I am much more of a cook than a baker. I use the Deluxe Carrot Cake recipe from southern living. Does anyone have any suggestions? I assume that I would simply make the batter as directed, and pour into cup cake pans....but that just seems too easy and I don't want to mess it up, and do not have the time for a trial. My main concern is with cooking time. Any suggestions greatly appreciated. Thank You!

  1. I think you're on the right track. Just remember they won't take as long to bake as the cake would so check them carefully. I'd check them at fifteen minutes, expecting they'll take 20 - 25 minutes to bake.

    1. It's the same, just in a smaller container. Cupcakes are made from cake batter. Layers normally take 25-35 minutes, check the cupcakes after 12 to 15 minutes. Cupcakes baked at 350* take 16-20 minutes and that depends on your oven, of course. Do not be tempted to change the baking temperature, whatever you do.
