Mexican/ South American Food

Does anyone know of any good, authentic Mexican or South/ Central American places around midcity/uptown? I'm willing to go out to Metairie too. I used to go to Casa Guerrera, next to Angela Brocato's, but I'm just looking to expand my horizons.
Also, has anyone tried that Central American restaurant in the old Frost Top parking lot off Jefferson Hwy? Its right across from the Picadilly cafeteria.

  1. have eaten at La Profecia in Old Jefferson and found it quite good and very reasonably priced. and they serve horchata. so what's not to like.
in Metairie, check out Taco San Miquel in Fat City.
Fiesta Latina is open on N. Carrollton in Mid-City. Uptown, try Felipe's. Pupuseria La Macarena has a place in the Riverbend.

I've always eaten at the one near the airport. I saw the one on Carrollton, but have not eaten there yet.

    2. There is Taquero's on St. Charles for Mexican tapas.
