Buying Paneer in Vancouver?

Hey gang,

I've never come across Paneer in Vancouver. I suppose I can make my own but it's always nice to have a local source when I don't have that kind of time to plan ahead.

There has to be somewhere that sells it. The closer to downtown the better!

Any ideas?

  1. I get my paneer at El Sureno (a Latin American store run by Indians who used to live down there).

    1. I live in Calgary, so not too familar with locations, but in addition to most local indian grocers, I have bought paneer at Superstore (in the frozen section).

Any Indian grocery store sells Paneer and as mentioned even Superstore has it.

      2. I've definitely seen a locally made paneer at Whole Foods before, though I can't remember the brand. Also, Les Amis du Fromage just tweeted yesterday that they are now carrying paneer from India. Hope this helps.

        1. Donald's on Commercial Drive has it as well

          1. Superstore sells cubed paneer in one pound bags for around $5 - 6.

As of November 1, 2012 Famous Foods on Kingsway still has it as does Donald's on Commercial Drive. Donald's on Hastings and Nanaimo does not.
