Los Arcos - West St. Paul (MSP)

Had the good fortune of stumbling upon a new little mexican joint in West St. Paul recently The food was fabulous. All ingredients and preparations were fresh and well done. The crispy tacos with shredded beef are second to none. The various enchiladas i tried were also great.
I plan to visit again soon as the menu had many interesting dishes.

This location has changed hands a few times, but these new owners got it right! Do yourself a favor and check this place out.

Los Arcos, 360 W. Bernard St., West St. Paul; 651-455-4250

I had stopped posting on chowhound due to too many deletions, but I have decided to post a note on Los Arcos after having lunch there today. As has been mentioned, the food was very cleanly prepared and presented. I had a chile rellenos, enchilada, tostada and chips and salsa. All were done well. They have the thick version of chips. Though we prefer thin, their's had not a hint of grease on them. There was not a hint of grease on any of the items that I had and thankfully no cheddar cheese in sight. I am not saying that this is the best Mexican food ever, but I enjoyed my lunch and I hope that they stay in business in the long term. The chef came and spoke to me. He was very friendly and apprciative of the business. I too recommend giving them a try.

The (very) humble location might keep folks away but this latest incarnation of a Mexican restaurant is a reall winner. VERY fresh ingredients, very tasty. The young chef came out to greet our table, in his chef's whites! and asked each diner how the meal was, what they liked and what could be improved.

Los Arcos is quaint, they're trying very hard, and the food is really good! Worth the drive from downtown St. Paul for lunch.

We will check this out and report back. Is it more of a taqueria or more of a sit-down kind of place? Or somewhere in the middle?

Its a sit down, but its in a stip mall so very casual. Been there twice now, had to go back for lunch today. I was the only customer in the place. Amazed again. They are doing everything right, it would be a shame if a place like this doesn't make it just because no one has heard of it.

          Give em a shot.

One more thing the sign above the storefront says Dora's. Thats the old tenant, they havent changes that yet.

Huh. Interesting. I live within walking distance, and had given up on that joint, under all its previous owners. Thanks for the tip.
