almond cake + cranberry syrup

Made this almond cake with cranberry syrup yesterday. It came out AWESOME. The cake was so simple to put together. I made the cranberry syrup while the almond paste/sugar/butter was beating in the Kitchenaid.

The cake was just sweet enough, with a light texture. I would definitely make it again- very elegant and super simple. Might try it for valentine's day in heart shaped mini springform pans.

I made this same cake a few weeks ago, subbed orange liquor for the amaretto and added orange zest. I made it in a 8" square pan, was very good and very easy. No cranberries for syrup, though.
