Spicy Food Challenges.

I am currently looking for all or any restaurants that have or would be willing to create a spicy food challenge or quantity challenge for a possible prize, whether it be picture on the wall, t-shirt, etc.

The Boynton, in Worcester, does a spicy wing challenge, too. I think it's 8 wings and you win a t shirt. Seems like not too many people complete it, which is bizarre to me, because I always ask for a side of that sauce as a dip for other foods. It really doesn't seem all that spicy to me.

This isn't in Boston, but only about 20 minutes away... its at the Doubletree in Bedford's restaurant.. the Bistro 44. It's a hot wing challenge. If you eat all 9 of the wings in under 30 minutes, it's free of charge. You also have to sign a waiver.

I'll be doing it this Saturday!

I did this yesterday, had stomach pains for about 5 hours after the fact i ate them. and im talking crippling, stomach pains.

Where: Bistro 44 in the Doubletree hotel, Bedford, MA

            What: Waiver Wing challenge

Rules: You must eat all 8 wings in under 30 minutes. You can only drink water or beer during it, and you MUST use your hands. After you finish the wings, you have to lick the sauce off your fingers before you are considered finished. If you finish within the allotted time, the wings are free, and you get your name on a plaque.

If not, then you have to pay for em.

We went with a team of 4 people yesterday, and 3 of us managed to complete it. I beasted thru the wings in about 5 minutes.

Prior to us doing the challenge, the executive chef said around 250 people have tried it in the past year and a half theyve been doing this challenge, and only 12 have succeeded.

Spiciness rating - this is definitely on par with the Pasta from Hell from the East Coast Grille. The wings are literally COATED in ghost pepper (naga jalokia). I talked to the executive chef, and he says they use a mix of fresh ghost pepper, dried ghost pepper, and other peppers in the making of the wings.

Of larger interest, what the heck is that stuff doing at a hotel restaurant in the 'burbs and who is that crazy SOB chef?!

You can thank Exec. Chef Jayson DeMarco for the wings. He personally cooked the wings for us.

As to why it's in Bedford.... I have no idea. The Bistro 44 looks like a REAL classy place, to find out they have a wing challenge there blows my mind. The bar reminds me of a place where you go and enjoy a cocktail with an order of Calamari, not a dingy bar with "burn your rectum" wings.

Either way, if you can make it to Bedford to do the wings... DO IT. There's plenty of room on the plaque.

This isn't in Boston, but I remember seeing photos on the wall of Muddy River BBQ in Portsmouth for an eating challenge. Looks like it's a rack of ribs, 1lb of pulled pork, 1/2 chicken, pint of beans, mashed, and cornbread. Eat it in an hour and get $25 giftcard and a t-shirt.

I swear I have seen other challenges in the Boston area besides Eagle's, but I'm drawing a blank.

I don't know if they have it up here, but the spikes in providence has (had?) the "freaking hot hot dog". Given that, they might be willing to really amp one up.

Yea, I think I might have to go to the Spikes on Boylston, it litterally is a 3 minute walk from where I live so, there cant be much harm in a least going and asking. Maybe I can get them to create a "Freaking hot hot dog" Kennel Club if I finish 6 of them.

So it does. My reading comprehension has been awful today. Still, perhaps the OP's subject shouldn't be "spicy food challenges" if the eagle's challenge counts.

It's also confusing since Chosenone28 already started a thread some time ago about quantity challenges:
                        http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/648580

You'll note that the Eagle Deli was the first place mentioned in that thread. Spike's and Pasta From Hell/Hell Night also came up, and at the same time that they started this new thread Chosenone28 posted to that thread that they had eaten an Emack Attack in 33 minutes.

I did do that Emack Attack, Ive done the Clinton Station Diner Zeus Burger, and a Fritatta in Syracuse NY. Video Links:

                          Emack: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ksWJfEWg65A
                          Zeus Burger: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pi14855Z-lc
                          Fritatta: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ARqvh4...

Set records in all 3 (technically only the 2nd fastest time, so i guess that Emack doesnt count as a record). I am 3 and 0 at the moment. You might recognize my friend from Man v. Food on the Hartford edition.

I am looking for things other then burgers/hot dogs as I tend not to enjoy these. I was really hoping for a quantity pizza challenge in the area that maybe eatfeats.com had not discovered yet or other spicy challenges as Ive done some hot wings in Buffalo NY, where I am from and I didn't find them to be to bad. Duffs Death Sauce wings to be exact.

I should also make it clearer that I want to do things in which the accomplishment has some form of recognition. Whether that be via t-shirt, cash prize, wall of fame, etc.

That one sounds just like a good time though. For spice, who cares about prizes. When I pound 23424242 calories and 7lbs of food though...I want some recognition lol.

Sign up for Hell Night at ECG and start laughing at the chef and waitstaff after your first plate of Pasta from Hell. I have heard rumors they have some evil peppers in storage for people like you. ;)

They just had a series of hell nights a couple of weeks ago. They'll probably do the next batch in march or april. You have to stay very on top of it though as they book up in a matter of days.
