need a (real) gumgo fix!

Hi Y'all
hoping for a little help here. I'm a former FL Gulf Coaster now living in the rockies. I'm at a conference in NOLA this week and would really like to get in a few regional food fixes - and not get stuck in some tourist trap.

I'll be staying at the Marriott on Canal - prefer walking distance

looking for:

Really good gumbo

Also somewhere low key to take friend for a nice meal with live music (blues or jazz)

any other hidden gems near the marriott?

Herbsaint and Cochon have good gumbo. Personally not a fan of Mr. B's gumbo.

i say mr. b's for really good gumbo.

your second question is kind of difficult. there don't seem to be many places that offer live music while you dine, which is what i think you're asking for. but frenchmen street might be a good solution. have dinner at adolfo's or marigny brasserie followed by music at d.b.a. or snug harbor. (snug harbor also serves a mean burger, fwiw.)
