We will be stopping for one night in Meridian....any suggestions? I have only found chains so far. I would like an upscale reccomendation.

I've been hearing good things about The Red Door BBQ in Enterprise. It is a short drive but might be worth it. Check their hours first though- they were closed when I went by...

It looks like it has been there awhile... You must have broken down on the wrong road (I don't think there are but a couple of roads in Enterprise- one going in and one coming out...)

Weidman's is downtown, but I haven't been in 10 years, so I can't vouch for its quality. Rustler's, despite its unfortunate name, used to have the best steak in town. And DT Grinders wasn't bad, although I usually ate lunch, rather than dinner, there. The Hungry Heifer had a decent burger. Of these, Weidman's is apparently under new ownership and probably is the most upscale. But the Rustler could be described that way as well, at least in price. If I recall, it's more of a dim, date-night kind of place. Again, though, all these recommendations are years out of date so YMMV.

Weidman's food was unobjectionable when I ate there about three years ago but Iwas so depressed over what had happened to the structure that I really did not enjoy myself. I loved the old place
