Where to buy fresh plaintain in brooklyn (cobble hill area)

Just tried 3 stores in my area and no luck finding fresh plaintains. Any suggestions?

Dont' know an exact location in your area, but try any Asian market, Latino or Caribbean market (Dominican, Puerto Rican, etc.) or markets like Costco, BJ's or Western Beef. The mainstream supermarkets grossly overcharge. You will pay $1 or more per platano at a place like Waldbaums where plantains are seen as "exotic"; at Western Beef it's $2 for 14 if you spend $20 on your groceries because platanos are a common cooking staple.

Met on Smith often has them. Also the bodega on Warren and Smith "always" has them. (Put them under hot tap water for 2-3 minutes before peeling the green ones...)
