Sinplicity Ice Cream at Falls Church Farmers Market

Went to this farmers market for the first time for some Stachowski meats and saw that Sinplicity also has a stand there. They had six varieties for tasting out. This is local and delicious ice cream that I had only seen at Balducci's so far.

    1. I am a HUGE (!!!) fan of Sinplicity. I believe that is so much better than any other store bought ice cream (the $10 Philadelphia gelato included). There should be a chorus of people on Chowhound raving about this! It really is THAT good. I might even rate it above Dallas' Out of a Flower from almost ten years ago which is $10 a pint also-if you could find it today.

It's about $5.50 a pint by the way and worth every penny and every calorie. Someone needs to let the world (or at least the D. C. area) know about this incredible ice cream.

I sprung for a pint once and I was impressed. I wish I didn't have to go out of my way to buy it. Or maybe that's a good thing. I remember that when I first heard about it here, Whole Foods was mentioned as a source, but I never found it there. I rarely head in the direction of Balducci's, though the FC Farmer's Market is dangerously close.

          • I'm the owner of Sinplicity and I just stumbled across this. Thanks so much for the kind words from you and the others. It's nice to know that there are people out there that appreciate what we're trying to do. We're now in the Old Town Alexandria and Oakton Farmers Markets, and possibly coming to the Reston Saturday market in a few weeks. We've got lots of new flavors for the summer.

              1. I could swear I've seen these at Whole Foods, at least the one near the King Street Metro. Have never tried them, but am very tempted to now!

I, too, recall seeing it at Whole Foods, but only for a short time. Last time I bought Sinplicity was at Balducci's, but I don't go there often and seem to hit it on days when they're out of stock. Unless I come prepared with an ice chest, I don't think about buying ice cream at a farmer's market other than by the scoop.

Leland, I realize it's a small-production deal, but do you regularly distribute to any grocery stores?
