Even better for Houston. See ya Dallas. Seriously, having read many posts, I'm not sure how often I'll check in as I rarely read the Austin board. At first I was excited, but I'm going to miss them.

I am jealous of the Houston hounders. Possibly one of the most active groups to spawn from this site. I see you have an event coming up that I would LOVE to attend, something about mushrooms? How on earth did you get all that started and organized?

That's Jenny Wang at imneverfull.com. She's really dialed in to the local food scene, has blogs, and does a radio show on kgow 1560 am, (check out the podcasts), with local sports guru/foodie Lance Zierlein and Bryan Caswell of Reef Restaurant. The show has had all the finalists from last year's Top Chef on it, and they can still be heard on their podcasts. She's organized a mushroom throwdown at a local restaurant. In the past, she's also done porkbelly and bbq throwdowns among other things. Check out her blogs and twitter.

No Joke! I myself would love to participate in any type of group who would like to visit restaurants, festivals, or even get together and cook, share stories, and just have a great time with all that is food. Its too bad that the Dallas group isn't as active. What a great idea to organize a throwdown!

The show? It's 11 am on Saturdays, but the podcasts can be heard anytime, check out the website, kgow1560. I also read from Jenny's blog that they're organizing a banquet for Chinese New Year at Fung's, Tuesday, 2/16.
