Restaurant Week Suggestions- not worth it?
I know that most Chowhounders try to stay away from restaurant week as the quality of food is never as adequate as usual, but has anyone ever attended a fantastic restaurant week dinner?
I went to Gramercy tavern last RW and I had a superb meal.
Any suggestions for next week for a top-class restaurant that will have a great restaurant week menu?
Typically Danny Meyer restaurants like Gramercy Tavern do a good job. I've always had great dinners at the Bar Room at the Modern (another Danny Meyer restaurant). Never really had that much other luck for RW dinners, sorry.

I have also read many good reviews about Park Avenue now-Winter and that's our first RW meal next Monday.
We also have a res at Alto, Nobu Next Door, and Gotham Bar & Grill.
We've done RW at Aquavit, Le Cirque, Megu, and The Modern Bar Room. We were happy with all of them, especially Aquavit. We actually had a better meal there during RW than other times (better service, etc.)
Restaurant Week is always a treasure hunt in NYC. I've had an amazing meal at Cafe Boulud and to this day the single worst meal of my life at Vong. So if you find a good one it's always a nice treat. Last night my girlfriend and I secured us a reservation at Le Cirque to start off what should be a great week of eating. I have eaten at Le Cirque a few times, once in the main dining room with the tasting menu with wine pairings (one of the top three meal's I've had in NYC) and 3 or 4 times in the wine lounge off the main dining room (I would do anything for the Foie Gras ravioli). Those meal's have been marked by great service (friendly, cordial, attentive, and knowledgable), stunning food, and a wonderful setting. But, it is Restaurant Week... However, I'm happy to report our meal last night lived up to the high standards I've come to expect. I had a house made Pistachio Venison Sausage to start that was rustic, bold, and delicious. Then wonderful diver scallops as a main course. The were flakey and slightly crisp on the outside and melted in your mouth. Topped with shockingly good Broccolini (I didn't know there was such a thing) it was a memorable dish. Dessert has always been a standout for me here and the Tiramisu was rockin. This was a great meal during restaurant week - or any week of the year. Keep up the good work.

Some of my experience during restaurant week in the past has been mixed. I think it gives a restaurant a great opportunity to attract some people who would not have the ability to dine with them otherwise. And keep them as customers, although as we all know this often fails.
I am not sure if it because the restaurants become busier then usual during the week. Or if they shrink their portions in order to still make a same profit. Or is the staff just doesn’t want to try as hard thinking their tabs will be less.
Regardless there has been bad and good, below are the ones that stand out the most for me
