Brown rice in Zojirushi cooker..difficulty no measuring cup

PantsFund Jan 21, 2010 12:21 PM

HI, apologies if this is an annoying question, but can anyone tell me the best way to make brown rice in the Zojirushi without the measuring cup included with the cooker? Last time I made it I used a 1:1.5 rice to water ratio(in a standard measuring cup) and it came out sticky and a bit mushy. It tasted ok, not great but passable. I'm using brown rice in dinner tonight and am hoping to have better results this time. So what's the best way? The best thing I found through Google was one measure of rice in the Zojirushi cup then fill with water to the brown rice line on the bowl. But I have read that it's best not to follow the lines on the bowl. Thank you in advance! Double apologies...Sorry....put this on the wrong board, it's my first time here as a poster....will post on the correct board...Sorry.

the size of rice cooker measuring cups are 180 ml - which is a hair over 6 oz or 3/4 cup

i have no problem using the lines in my zojirushi

      Dude --

Click on this site, pick your model, order the replacement measuring cup.

I've thought about doing that but it's not mine and the girl it belongs to is moving out soon. But thanks.

first, put your rice in the cooker. then take the tip of your index finger and touch the top of the rice. Add water until the level reaches your knuckle. Good luck!
