Cevapi - Where can I get some?

I am having a craving for some cevapi, either raw, or cooked.
Any suggestions in the Baltimore/DC area?

  1. There is a Turkish grocery store called Lezzet in Rockville that has it in the small cafe in the front of the store. I don't know if they sell it raw to buy.

    1. Restaurant Cosmopolitan in Alexandria, VA, lists "Ćevapčići" on their menu. They also say this on their homepage:

"Ćevapčići for Home Cooking - You can now get fresh Ćevapčići, ready for baking or grilling at home together with a fresh Lepina Bread for every 10 Ćevapčići you buy.

      10 for $5.00; 100 for $45.00"

I haven't been to this place, but it's received nice reviews. I'm eager to try it.

I've tried the cevapcici at Cosmopolitan. I've never had the stuff before and I don't know "authentic" but it tasted fantastic. Dude makes the stuff by hand himself. Filling, tasty, and cheap.

Cosmo's cevapi are good. If you're coming from parts north, a slightly closer source is the Balkan Grill, a carryout joint in a strip mall on N Kings Highway in Huntington. The people from Cosmopolitan used to be in that location, and the guy who took over makes good cevapi as well, both raw and cooked. Both places also do a good pljeskavica, and Balkan Grill also has some Turkish items (the new owner is Bosnian via Turkey, I believe). The attached market is also a good source for eastern european staples like good hot ajvar.

Upper level Huntington Metro is right across the street, so it's Metro accessible.

        2. "Meat on the Avenue" on Mt. Vernon Avenue usually has cevapcici you can grill yourself. Awesome bones for your pup, too.

Cosmopolitan, previously mentioned, has great cooked cevapcici and bureks, as well.
