A nice bar in port chester for drinks after dinner at Tarry Lodge?

foleyd7 Jan 21, 2010 04:48 AM

We are going to Tarry Lodge for dinner on Saturday and we would like to go out after for a couple of drinks... I want a nice place where we can sit and be able to talk. Any ideas?

So does the silence here mean that there are no nice bars in Port Chester???
Is heading into Greenwhich after dinner a better alternative?

I was going to suggest a few places, but I'm curious as to what you are looking for?

Tarry Lodge has a bar but is it too noisy?

We are meeting another couple at the Tarry Lodge bar and will get a drink there before dinner.
We've read a few posts that the bar area there can be lowd and crowded so we figured it wouldn't be the most comfortable place to go after dinner.
We aren't looking for a college bar or dive bar - - - just something decent where we will all find a seat and be able to get a good beer and good wine.

Haven't been in years but Sam's on Mill Street used to be a fun place to hang out.

I like Sam's for a couple of beers and (very good) bar food, but it's a bit of a "hole in the wall".
You're probably better off heading about a block up the hill (Mill St) to Greenwich Lobster House or a couple of blocks down Abendroth (Ave?) to Copacabana.

Nessa is a great option for this. Nice bar with very good cocktails and a good assortment of wines by the glass (mostly Italian).

I don't know how noisy it would be at peak, but Sonora has a nice bar that is a bit away from the dining room.

As does Willett House. Perhaps the newly remodelled Cafe Mirage?

had lunch at tarry lodge the other day,it was much better than dinner when they first opened, i think you will enjoy it.i was also going to suggest nessa afterwards especially if you might still want a little more food, even if not ,might be a good spot just to hang out and have a few drinks
