Mexico City Centro Histórico recs for Valentine's Day Comida

Anonimo Jan 21, 2010 02:32 AM

Here's the deal: we are going to be in Mexico City, Centro Histórico over Valentine's Day weekend. Staying at Hotel Catedral. We'd like to eat somewhere special on Sunday. Maybe this will be when we finally get to dine at Casino Español). Also looking at options on Calle Regina, for example, Zéfiro.

On arrival Friday, we will return to El Huequito on Calle Bolívar, for a great taco experience. Saturday morning, perhaps a late breakfast at El Cardenal on La Palma, Centro.

Surely the majority of moderate to upscale restaurants don't offer limited Valentine's Day menus as do some U.S. counterparts? That would not be an attraction for us.

Thanks in advance.

Hey, Anonimo, can you give a little more info on what exactly you're looking for. There's no many great eats in Centro Historico.

I mistitled my OP; we already have plenty of recs. But what I needed to know is if restaurants such as Casino Español or Zéfiro would make special Valentine's Day Menus Which is a negative for us.) I'm not even certain if Zéfiro is open.

We are pretty well determined to try Casino Español this time.

(This trip may be postponed due to upcoming dental work just before. Que lata.)

        Zefiro is only open Mon-Fri.

Casino is open on V-day, from 1 to 6. No special menu though.

I happen to live a couple of blocks away :)
