Lisiano's on the Post Road in Orange, CT

Lisiano's has been around for a long time. Situated across from Bob's Discount Furniture in a strip shopping center, it is small but quaint. The tables are glass topped with no table clothes and the chairs are standard plain black padded chairs. The large wall has a painting of Venice on it and there's a skylight overhead keeping the restaurant bright during the day. It is clean but leans toward the plain side. We were seated immediately upon entering the restaurant and we placed our drink order. No fancy wines by the glass unfortunately. We were then served this freshly baked crusty bread (which my daughter fell in love with). I would prefer something more on the whole wheat side but it was good just the same. I ordered the Salmon Lisiano which was one of the many specials on the board. Each meal comes with a very hearty salad with house dressing that is quite good. When the Salmon came, I was delighted to see that all my favorites were included: artichoke hearts, capers, tomatoes, onions and olives served over the thin spaghetti. It was "spot on". My husband had the veal and he said it was very tender and very good. The next time we went, I ordered the special baked salmon. It came surrounded by fabulous vegetables which included red pepper, mushrooms, onion, broccoli, tomato, cauliflower and thin slices of butternut squash. It was out of this world. My daughter had them prepare penne romano because it was close to penne ala vodka which she regularly gets when eating out. She was very happy with hers and my husband had the chicken parmesan. He said, "wow". I am glad we finally tried this restaurant and this will now be our regular stop.

I agree. Lisiano's is like having dinner at Nonno's. Specials are always good. Nothing fancy but good mostly southern style Italian food. The last time I went, quite awhile ago now, they had fried zuchini blossoms on the special menu--yum!
