Latino Restaurant Bristol CT

Anybody eat here? I noticed it during the summer and then forgot about it until I drove by recently.

I did some research and according to their website they have a Cuban cook and a Peruvian cook. Sounds interesting...

Latino Restaurant
417 Broad Street
Bristol, CT

Also a short drive from there is El Paso in Plainville. Grabbed tacos there a few times. Very good Mexican food.

    Johnny,
We ate here last night, friday, and they had karaoke which was a bit loud... but after awhile we started laughing at some of the singing. I guess they try to sing and I give them credit for trying. The karaoke was in the bar area right next do the dining room so the sound traveled right over. The overall atmosphere, was kinda blah, plain and not very inviting, though I think they tried by painting over the wallpaper, and putting silk flowers on the tables.

We had a mixed experience with the food. We thought it was heavily salted. We woke up during the middle of the night so dry and thirsty. I ordered a Pisco Sour, not knowing what it was. It was OK, but seemed kind of weak, like it needed more flavor. I don't think there was much alcohol in it. My dinner companion asked for a merlot to start, but they were out. We both asked for Ropa Vieja for our meal selection, and again, they were out. Hmmm... not a great way to start out.

We were brought a bread basket. The bread was kinda boring sliced baguette, and cold. However, the dipping sauce was very flavorful and spicy. Very good. We started out with the yucca fries that were excellent. I ordered bistek a la pobre, a very thin steak with an egg on it along with white rice, french fries and a small salad. The steak was thin and well done but I think it's meant to be that way. Good flavor though. I also thought the egg was a bit too brown/fried to my liking. My dining companion got basically the same thing but with chicken. The chicken was flavorful and the sweet plaintains were excellent. Portions were big enough for a relatively low price.

The waitress for very nice, pleasant and tried to accommodate us. There was a good flow of people coming in, some specifically for the bar area. We passed on dessert because we were full. We'll consider going back in the future.

      Thanks Java.

Nice review. Sounds like it is worth a try. Some good Cuban food would really hit the spot.

Do you know of good cuban place? We tried the place in Wallingford and didn't think it was that great. I am also looking for some good puerto rican roast pork with rice and beans. Been hard to find lately. Might have to take a ride to La Caguena over across from St Vincent's Hospital on Main St in Bridgeport soon for good takeout puerto rican food.

If you are looking for Latin/Caribbean check out La Cazuela in Waterbury. Good Dominican food

How about El Americano on So Main Street in Waterbury? I've been there several times on business, and their pibil sandwich was outrageous, and their tostones are to die for. Also, thie cubano sandwiches are really good. I'm still trying to get back as often as I can without seeming to be a stalker.

PS. El Americano is Puerto Rican.
