RIP-Jack Coopers -Edison N.J.

30 year run comes to it's end...will be missed....

  1. Before Jack and his family sold this place a few years ago it was always excellent. I was a frequent and very satisfied customer.

      Oh thats a shame, they really were good. Great pickles. I wonder what happened there, I know for me personally our office moved and we're not near there now... Economy, Harolds competition, mall competition (the deli in menlo is decent, the pastrami is pretty good...).

    2. Just heard about the passing of this great place.
      So, so sad...good food and good value, even under the most recent owners.

      Seems like a dying breed...the only alternative in the immediate area seems to be Harold$ Deli in Raritan Center. A lot more expensive and (to my palate anyway) simply not as good.

      1. A friend in Edison told me that a new restaurant is going into the old Jack Cooper's space.

        Anyone have additional information?

          I drove by poor Jack's last night to check out that very thing...the only sign in the papered up windows was one that said the space was available for lease.
          Another deli (in the _proper_ sense of the word) is probably too much to hope for...
