Dinner for 10 with bar / lounge for many more in Hollywood - suggestions?

I'm looking for somewhere that will allow me to have a smaller group for dinner (not too pricey) and a larger group show up later, which means the bar needs to be decent sized and the music should be good. I'm thinking Velvet Margarita, but am not sure the music is going to keep the party together. Other suggestions??

Thanks!!

    1. how about busby' east on wilshire near la brea?
you can eat next door at the mexican/taco restuarant, or a few blocks down there is an indian place.
then move to busbys..big bar with lots of seats (decent bar food) and they have a seperate room with a very large dance floor they open up for dancing around 9pm.

That's not a bad idea - I'll look into it. I've only been to the one on the westside and have had a lot of fun there, but it can sometimes feel too much like a frat party. Do you know how it compares?

this one is a lot bigger and its still a party atmosphere but you can find plenty of spaces around that are a little less crowded. its has a better mix of a crowd. young/old, all types. plenty of Tvs and the big dance floor of course. i know people really like the tacos next door. so its a great place to eat and party.

i don't know, i def find busby's to be fratty, and it's very crowd-contingent. i've better and worse nights there, usually ending up there as a result of its geographic centrality for the people meeting up.

what's the price range? i might have more ideas for you... if you're open to a speakeasy, you might consider The Roger Room on La Cienaga...

I've decided we'll give Velvet Margarita a shot since it allows us to keep dinner and drinks in one place. That way we're not on a schedule and don't have to deal with the hassle of organizing a move (which is even harder in this weather). I'll write back this weekend to report.

                  • oh ya..how about lola's on fairfax? its a restuarant / lounge bar at night.
