Does Wine Bar take reservations? I noticed in another thread that Hank's apparently takes reservations, but I couldn't find any info about Wine Bar's reservation policy on the website.

Also, how busy has Wine Bar been lately? Is it relatively easy to get a table around 6/6:30 p.m. these days?

The contact info. part of the page says "We do not take reservations through this form" which leads me to think that they do accept them, but that you have to call to make them.

Had a wonderful meal last night at Wine Bar. Our res was by phone on Tues for 5:45 since we were going to Berkeley Theatre right afterwards. Place was not at all busy when we arrived and we had our choice of table or bar seating. By 6:30 it was packed. Two of us shared 4 small plates for dinner and 2 small plates for dessert which was more than ample. Faves were the potato gnocci with woodland mushrooms and Qualicum bay scallops with carmelized red onion; chocolate tarte with caramel nuts was simply to die for! Washed it all down with Tavel Rose. Service was attentive and leisurely, staggering delivery of plates so we could concentrate on different dishes. Will definitely return!

Thanks, cuterscooter. I look forward to trying the gnocchi!

Called the restaurant, and they take reservations

Enjoyed the dishes we ordered at Wine Bar tonight- the gnocchi with woodland mushrooms was by far my favourite. We also ordered the scallops with beef goulash, the beets with goat cheese curds and hazelnuts, the black cod with smoked cheese grits and some fries. The fries were just average tonight.

Also ordered the chocolate tarte- very sweet- milky chocolate with gooey caramel- too sweet for my palate, but my friends liked it.

                  Would return for the gnocchi.

          2. Jamie sold it to his sous, Scott Vivan, about 5 months ago.

            1. Wow, what a dissapointment. We had reservations at the wine bar with some out of town friends. We used to go to Jamie Kennedy's a fair bit when we lived near the market. This is not in the same league. THe service was poor, especially the maitre d' Carlos. The polenta we had was AWFUL and the decor at HANKS where we were seated was cheap diner.

                How busy was it?

                How was the winelist?

What was so bad about the service?

                And the Maitre d'?

                1. re: Non Doctor

well it was about half full at hanks. Maitre de problem was attitude. Service was slow and food very uninspiring. part of the problem is winterlicious, i find toronto restaurants treat people with disdain during winterlicious. If our out of town friends werent here we would never have gone there. its amazing how much worse the experience was from when Jamie Kennedy owned the restaurant.
