Amelia Island and Fernandina Beach

I have looked over the entries for the past few years and it seems like many of the restaurants mentioned have closed. I'll be there for a week in March and we are looking for breakfast and lunch suggestions . I will be with friends from out of state and I would like to show them some "Florida" food -- whatever that is.
Singletons in Mayport was mentioned frequently ( and Roadfood praised it).
Is it worth the drive?

Yes, absolutely. Great old Florida place with very good seafood. It's obvious but...order the shrimp! The local flounder is also very good. Do not miss the in-house boat model museum. If you want to extend the trip, stop in the Little Talbot State Park ($5 per car.) A really beautiful spot with extraordinary beaches. Remember to check the ferry schedule so that you do not have to wait too long on either side of the St. John's ($5 each way.)
