[Note: We edited the title of this post so as not to cause confusion, because there is a city named North Chicago -- The Chowhound Team]

I will be staying at the Radisson Hotel Chicago O'Hare in Des Plaines and MUST get my hands on some fantastic authentic Chicago Deep Dish pizza. Unfamiliar with the area but will have a car. TIA

There are two main styles of our delicious deep-dish pizza. One is the single-crust "pizza in the pan"; the other is the double-crust "stuffed" pizza.

For pizza in the pan, I recommend the Lou Malnati's ( www.loumalnatis.com ) location on Higgins (IL-72) in Elk Grove Village. Although that's not the location I usually use, I had pizza there this past year and it was as good as I've ever had theirs. There's also a Gino's East location near O'Hare but I've heard that the quality of that particular location is variable. So I would go to Lou's. Your hotel is at Mannheim and Touhy; take Touhy west and it becomes Higgins.

For stuffed pizza, there is a location of Giordano's ( www.giordanos.com ) on Higgins in Rosemont. From the hotel, go south 3/4 mile to Higgins and turn left (east).

It should take 5-10 minutes to get to either location from your hotel.

Wherever you go, phone ahead with your pizza order to avoid waiting 30-45 minutes while seated for your pizza to bake.

    Enjoy!
