Tagging a restaurant, etc

  • 1

Chow Team - The auto-suggest UI is not entirely clear to me. I was trying to suggest a location in a post and the restaurant was not listed. It was not clear how I could add a new location.

Also - "Manage your links" - that's not titled well. "tag a location" or "restaurant" is more clear...

  1. Unfortunately, it's not possible to add a new restaurant from that interface.

If there's a restaurant you'd like added to the database, you can send the details to moderators@chowhound.com, and we can add it.

Here are the available factual fields:
    NAME
    PHONE
    ADDRESS (including zip)
    WEBSITE
    NEIGHBORHOOD
    PRIMARY CUISINE
    RESERVATION LINK
    DATE OPENED
ALCOHOL (Full Bar, Wine/Beer, BYOB only, None)
    CREDIT CARDS (yes / no)
    MENU (link)
    HOURS
    These fields are yes/no only:
Delivery, Outdoor seating, Reservations, Late Night, 24 hours, Private Parties, Counter-service only, on-site parking, serves lunch

Alternatively, if you'd like access to add restaurants yourself, you can post in this thread: http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/655867 New restaurants are actually added via the search page. If you search for something and get few or no results a "Do you want to add this restaurant?" link will pop up for people who have that authority. It's a little kludgey, but we're trying to avoid problems with people adding duplicate restaurants.
