Uzen-vegan options?

karenkos1 Jan 17, 2010 08:06 AM

Am thinking of going to Uzen on College Ave. for a birthday dinner. One of the guests is vegan. Will there be items on the menu for her to eat? Couldn't really tell from the reading I've done on this restaurant, so any info would be appreciated.

Veg tempura SANS SAUCE, nasu dengaku app, agedashi tofu SANS BROTH, various veg maki (Ask for what you want. Shitake, ume/ cucumber/shiso, gobo...). They also serve stir fried veg w/ many of their main courses--you could ask for a meal sized version of that w/ shitakes. I would imagine that the vegan guest is pretty well versed in the pitfalls of Japanese cuisine (no miso soup for you!).

Though I am a fan of Uzen, I think you might want to consider Kirala instead. The robata offerings present many more options for your vegan guest.
