Best Pre-theatre in Broadway area

Hi again everyone,

We've just booked tickets to see Phantom of The Opera and we're now looking for a quality pre-theatre meal before the show.

Anything other than thai and spicy food is an option, budget is not a problem as we wouldn't be drinking so we can spend more on food!

Are the Russian Tea Rooms good? We're staying opposite I think.

Would like it to be within short walking distance to the Majestic Theatre on West 44th...

An excellent restaurant near your theatre is Marseille on W. 44 St. and 9th Ave. The restaurant has French food in a brasserie-type setting.

Gone with DB Bistro Moderne as I wanted to go Daniel but its too expensive!!

If you like Italian seafood, Esca is a great choice. I second gutsofsteel - avoid Russian Tea Room.

I would strongly advise staying away from The Russian Tea Room. Two words: Tourist trap.

I would recommend the following restaurants in the Theater District area:

Seasonal Restaurant & Wine Bar, on 58th St., b/t 6th & 7th Avs., is a hidden gem serving superb Austrian cuisine. Open a little over a year, it has received a Michelin star.

Alto, on 53rd St., b/t 5th & Madison, serves excellent Northern Italian cuisine. It has garnered two Michelin stars.

dbBistro Moderne, on 44th, b/t 5th & 6th Avs., is one of 4-star chef Daniel Boulud's restaurants. At db, he focuses on contemporary French bistro cuisine. Needless to say, the food is first-rate.

Russian Tea Room is an overpriced tourist trap.

I like Trattoria Trecolori on 47th St. which is very close to where you'll need to be.
