Hummus Bar is in Tarzana. If the OP wants middle eastern, Alcazar is great and directly across the street.

Alcazar is just across the street and there is also Itzak Hagadol a few doors west of Alcazar.

For Indian, there's Taj Mahal, just a block or so west of White Oak.

Second all of these recs., especially Alcazar.

Near White Oak is Thai 'n' I. Not particularly nice for sitting down, but they have great Thai BBQ -- chicken and ribs.

In the same block as Alcazar is Hirosuke which is good for nontraditional sushi rolls and costs less than Katsuya at Hayvenhurst.

I ate there for the first time this afternoon. I loved it, but I wish I had liked the kabob more. What did anyone enjoy more than the house (veal/lamb) kabob?
