Group dinner in downtown SF

We are staying at the Ritz Carlton Downtown and would like a nice place for 7-8 people to dine, within walking distance. We are looking for homemade Italian, Californian or Asian cuisine that is authentic, good ambience and not overly expensive. Masa's is beyond our budget, Any ideas?

For excellent Italian, walk down California Street to Perbacco, between Battery and Front. Kind of a hike afterwards up the hill but it will be good for you. Be sure to make a reservation with that many people.
