Cafe Italia replaces Encore in Naples

  • 7

Cafe Italia, an upscale Italian restaurant and lounge bar, has opened in the former location of Encore, at 2500 Vanderbilt Beach Road in Naples (at the east end of the Naples Walk Center). The menu is typical Italian pasta, veal, seafood, plus steaks, with an extensive Italian wine list. We ate there recently and enjoyed excellent Veal Picata with linguini and Grouper Francese (white wine/lemon) with risotto. Dinner entres run about $12 - $25, with a 2-for-1 special available at lunch. The restaurant fittings are essentially the same as the Encore, with Italian art replacing the more abstract art that Encore had. The bar is still there, it's still open late (2 am), and has a 3-6 pm happy hour with 2 for 1 beers & $4 house wines, mimosas, and bellinis. Web site: http://www.cafeitaliaofnaples.com/

  1. Cafe Italia has extended their "happy hour" from 3pm to 7pm, 6 days a week (they are closed Sunday).: half-price well drinks, domestic draft beers ($1.50), and most of the bar menu, which averages around $5 ea. We went there recently for dinner with some friends before 7pm, so we ordered from the bar menu, tried the coconut shrimp, fried calamari, scallops in lemoncello sauce, meatballs with mozzarella, Italian sausage, and ahi tuna with miso, and the total tab for four people, with beer, was $40, before tip.

    1. does anyone go here? is the Italian equiv of Real Sea Food (a place that's still around but you don't know anyone who goes there).

is it still worth checking out?

We live right next to Cafe Italia in North Naples, so we go there often, usually sitting in the bar area. They have good pasta, excellent lasagna, and half-price bar menu 3-6 pm Mon-Sat (closed Sundays).

Another winner for Chef Ross Peterson! Too long not on the scene in Naples, Chef Ross is back with a menu to please everyone. From the esgarot, ahi,and meatloaf apps to the snapper and steak we had, it was SPECTACULAR! Then on to the lounge for some great music and dancing..we had it all..will be back REAL soon!!

                Latitude Rocks!

I really enjoy what they've accomplished in a few weeks, and it only gets better!
