Parents coming to town Saturday...KOP/Conshy, low key

So my parents are coming to town on Saturday and I'm looking for something casual and low key. Just a party of 3, but my folks' taste is a bit plain, nothing too fancy. They are big fans of a quiet dining room and good-sized portions. $18-22 would be a good price range as well. Conshy is an option, and we'd go as far west as Ambler (in KOP area now). Any help would be great!

Was Amber what you actually meant? I wouldn't consider Ambler as being west of any of those places...

Ambler is northeast of King of Prussia and, with traffic, is nearly 30 minutes away.

In Conshy I'd suggest Pepperoncini on E. Elm for Italian. Its not traditional "spaghetti and meatballs" italian. More of the northern cuisine. But very good. They also have a very quiet, low key dining room. I'd also suggest Fayette Street Grille, which is BYO. Again, pretty low key.

I haven't tried Spampinato's yet. But I imagine its alot like Viggiano's was.

Do not go to Blackfish, its way over-rated, and the dining room can be very loud.

I second the Pepperoncini recommendation. Another good place in Conshohocken (but byob) is Trattoria Totaro on Spring Mill Rd. I think Fayette Street Grille is good but loud.

i was at trattoria Totaro for lunch and dinner this week....rather pricey food -good, but entries didn't WOW me dessert probably shouldn't even have been offered....and I could have sworn waitress smelled of booze on both occasions....was also at Fayette St grill...scallop app excellent!!! and price fixed menu was reasonable . Blackfish was very dissappointing for the cost. Last place I checked out was From the Boot...large portions and reasonably but very noisy....
