Help.....Thai or Indian near the St Lawrence Market for tomorrow (Fri) night

I'll be in that neighbourhood tomorrow afternoon and looking for a good Thai or Indian place nearby. Either walking or short cab ride distance. Any price range is fine, quality is most important.

Thanks so much

  1. You won't find good Indian or Thai food near the SLM. Or at least, I never have. I believe you'll be hailing a taxi for either. You could head back to Rashnaa for Indian or go to Mengrai at Richmond & Ontario for Thai.

Second the Mengrai recommendation. I have always enjoyed my food there. At its best, it is spectacularly good. I think it's also the prettiest Thai restaurant in the city, if that means anything. Definitely worth a trip, especially if you've never been.

I will third the Mengrai Thai recommendation. We had a thoroughly enjoyable meal there. The restaurant has nice ambience and service was great. An all round great evening. Try the house special chicken curry.

      2. Sukhothai is very good, It's about a 5 minute cab ride or a 20 minute walk fom SLM. It's a casual place with a few tables.

Sukho Thai's extremely casual and has no liquor license. The food is sometimes exceptional and sometimes greasy, clumpy mediocrity.

Thanks everyone. Mengrai it is. I have been there a couple of times and it was great. Just wanted to check and see if there was any place I was missing.

        2. I love Mengrai as well, but Ivory Thailand on Church is a quick walk north from the market, and we have had some lovely meals with great service there, especially the duck curry.

I would second Ivory Thailand, if you haven't been. Been there many times and it is consistent. The one time I went to Mengrai I was underwhelmed - esp. by the service.

            Either should work tho :)
