When is your drive happening? Right now the Riverside Drive location of 12 Bones is closed for their annual winter vacation. They'll open up on the 20th, iirc. The Sweeten Creek location is open, I understand, but isn't as convenient.

Not sure what oute you are taking...I-85 to I-40? Near the junction of those two is Allen and Son. (just south of Hillsborough) Its excellent. If you have time, you might want to consider a detour to Lexington, NC for great bbq. Another great place is called Keatons BBQ, but the 'q isn't the star of the show, instead its their chicken...fried and dipped in bbq sauce. Very limited hours of operation, so be sure and check their website, which you can pull up on Google easily. ts near Statesville, NC, a few miles off I-40. In Asheville is 12 Bones.
