LF: Chinese takeout roast suckling pig (whole pig)

Hosting a Chinese New Year's party and want to know which places I can order a whole roasted suckling pig to take home. I'm in North York (DVP/401 area), but don't know of any places nearby. I'm planning to order from Peaktop on Hwy7 in Markham, but it's a bit of a drive for me and they usually don't have the piglets ready til 6:30pm. Only other place I know of is Ho Ho BBQ in Scarborough, but haven't tried it there before.

Well, if Peaktop is a bit of a drive, this might be too, but my wife gets suckling pig from the BBQ shop in the plaza at 16th Avenue and Spadina (same plaza as Regal 16 Chinese restaurant; the BBQ shop is just a few doors north). It is always tremendously done.

One other thing - although my wife is Chinese, she was brought up in the Philippines, and she likes the "lechon salsa" served with it. You can get that salsa as Marcy's Fine Foods, which is fairly near to you - Sheppard Ave at Brian Drive, north east plaza. That's between Vic Park and the 404. There's a regular and a hot style, and they're both fantastic with the pork - better than the usual hoisin sauce.

Thanks a lot FrankD, always want to try the Filipino version after Anthony Bourdain featured it on one of its shows.

I do not know the name. But I've had to pick a suckling pig there before. It's on Finch, just east of the 400 in a plaza on the south side of Finch.

It was a pretty large pig for $120 I believe...

I've also been looking for a place that has the best roast suckling pig. Location doesn't matter as long as it's in the general Toronto area.

In the summer, Peaktop was able to provide the suckling pigs at 1pm for me.

How was it by the time you got it home? Does it lose it's crisp after awhile? I only have a bottom metal heating plate, no heat lamps. I guess I could always take the blow dryer to it. :)

Though I do not know the name - in the plaza at Leslie / Finch near the Sunny Supermarket (its kind of outdoors) there is a Chinese BBQ place that sells suckling pig.

I cannot comment on it (though it looks great) as I have not tried it - but their BBQ Pork and Peeking duck are great.
