Coming to Charlotte over MLK weekend

Hello hounds,

I will be in Charlotte from Sat-Monday and looking for recommendations of places to eat. The girlfriend doesn't do mexican or Indian. Otherwise veritable establishments, a few nice places, and some gems/finds are good. I know there is a diner near one of the hwys south of Charlotte that I saw on a food show once but don't know if that would fly... I know Vivace just opened down there but we have one here in the Triangle. I know that Pie Town is down there but I've heard not the greatest things. Also, don't know what area we will be staying but probably at one of the Marriots in the area (not near airport).

How did I miss that Vivace was a chain?

Not a chain just two restaurants owned by the same group. I wouldn't classify that as a chain.. I think it would need a few more links. Sullivan's Steakhouse is a chain.
