Saturday night in Fort Point- need your opinions!

So I might be overthinking this, but I wanted to get all of your very educated opinions on this. Saturday night, going out to dinner with 4-5 people, and then will be met by probably 5 more friends. Originally we had a smaller group for dinner (3) and I was hoping to go to Sportello and Drink for dinner and cocktails, and meet up with other friends at Lucky's. Now with larger dinner group, I think Sportello is out of the plan, due to counter service only. Is that correct? There are no tables at Sportello, right? And no "dinner" food at Drink?

So now I am thinking about Lucky's and Barlows. From the reviews here and on Yelp,it seems that Barlows is getting mixed reviews for food. One reviewer said the food was better than the Beer Gardens but not quite as good as Franklin Southie- if thats the case, that is fine for this group of people. Any other feedback here? Is the food better at Barlow's or Lucky's? Has anyone been able to get a read on the Saturday night crowd at Barlow's? Lucky's is very fun, but for a group of 10 people who want to catch up a bit, it might be a bit too crowded and crazy.

Obviously I am being quite indicisive on planning this... would love your feedback, hounds!

I ended up at Barlow's last Saturday afternoon and fell in love with the place. It was not crowded at all at 3pm, but I was told there was a line to get in the previous Sat at dinner time.

I did not eat but 4 people in our party did and pronounced the food excellent. Perhaps they have issues when they are busy?

The service was also very good. I'll be back for sure.

Barlows is good and has a nice atmosphere. Gets crowded on the weekend. The food is good and reasonably priced. I would agree with the Beer Garden and Franklin comparion. Try to get some high top tables in the bar put together - it has a better atmosphere than the main dining room. I have only had apps at Lucky and they are good too, but I think there is more room for a big party at Barlows. You can always walk to Lucky's.

I would stay away from Sportello - while the pastas are quite good, I find it very uncomfortable sitting hunched over, shoulder to shoulder with the guy next to me. And they serve only beer and wine. And Drink is always uncomfortably packed with a really young crowd.

If you hit drink before dinner when they open, its not crowded or a young crowd.

I've only been a few times--never early--but it was never overcrowded with youngsters.

I hit Barlow's two weekends ago for a late lunch and I think it's a handsome space. The menu is broad enough so that everyone in a party of your size can find something to their liking. That being said I thought the food was just OK. My wife had a pasta dish that had nice flavor, but the cream sauce had broken (separated) prior to being served and that just shouldn't happen (no we didn't complain, my wife just dealt with it). The service was very good.

I've never been to Lucky's to eat but that certainly would fit the bill if you were looking for something casual. If you want more emphasis on the food, I'd go with Franklin Southie out of the above suggestions.
