In Orlando for work (convention center) and have a few nights on my own but not $$$
I can expense reasonably - any recommendations? Posting here since i do care about quality.. I've read about the top business ones- worried that they might be pricey- any recommendations? It sounds like I'll have to cab anywhere to eat.. Also- thought about going to the disnwy downtown amc24 movie - recommend? can you recommend a dinner and then go to the movie options? (along the way)
thanks so much!

If you are staying on I-drive near the convention center you can walk to Pointe Orlando which has movies, shopping and food. The only place that isn't a chain restaurant at Pointe Orlando is Funky Monkey. Try that for something different or go to Maggiano's for Italian or Taverna Opa for Mediterranean / Greek. Maggiano's and Opa are two of my favorite chain places. Their food is consistently good for a chain.

The Earl of Sandwich for Lunch at Downtown Disney is great for lunch or if your craving a sandwich.
For dinner I would suggest Raglan Road http://www.raglanroadirishpub.com/ It's fun atmosphere and good food. Also on Kirkman in a little shopping plaza area by the fun spot is a thai restaurant Red Bamboo. The lunches are around 6-7 bucks soups 3-4 and appetizers ranging from 3-7. It's delicious and plenty of food, The Dinner Menu offers more but is a bit pricier but it is still such a great deal with great food.
Around the Idrive area there is also Cafe Tu Tu Tango which is fun but can get expensive. It's tapas style I usually order about 3 different place and that is filling. Its fun to go with friends here. They change their menu often and I haven't been in a while so but I've always found the food decent.›1 Reply-

I agree with Raglan Road as a dinner option if you're going to the Downtown Disney AMC theater already. It's Irish pub fare, but really good Irish pub fare. I can vouch for the bangers and mash being excellent, and the fish and chips are good too.
However, if you're staying closer to the convention center than to Disney, you have a large Muvico theater nearby in the Pointe Orlando mall, so that might save you a longer cab ride if you're set on going to the movies. My favorite I-Drive restaurants are Fuddruckers (top-notch burger chain) and Texas de Brazil (all-you-can-eat Brazilian steakhouse). Texas de Brazil will run you about $45, but if you go to their website at http://www.texasdebrazil.com and sign up for their mailing list, they often send you coupons. If you can make it to lunch there instead of dinner, I think it's "only" about $20 or $25, and they have almost all the same selections.
