Where to Find German Chocolate Cake or Coconut Cream Cake in Oakland/Berkeley?

Need an old-fashioned birthday cake that tastes good. Any ideas?

  1. It's All Good Bakery on Martin L. King in north Oakland makes a passable, straightforward German Ch. Cake--you can try a single piece before deciding on a whole cake.

    1. Neldam's or Virginia Bakery.

      1. Crixa Cakes does a nice Coconut Cream Cake:

        1. i think i saw coconut cream cake is saul's in North Berkeley. Not a bakery, however.

          1. Anything from Sweet Adeline will be great. I don't know if they do a coconut cream cake, but their chocolate cakes are fabulous. They have four different chocolate cakes they offer by special order, and one of them is a straight forward devils food cake.
