Business Lunch in Eau Claire Friday.
Any suggestions? Doesn't have to be steakhouse-y. Can be interesting. Good Hmong food? Any can't miss locavore stuff? Suggestions appreciated.
Sorry that I missed your post. Hopefully these recs can help you or someone else in the future.
For Hmong, hit Egg Roll Plus on Bellinger near Luther Hospital and the Senior Center. It is not fancy, but it is very authentic and delicious. If they are closed (they have weird hours), try Long Cheng Market two doors down from Egg Roll Plus. They have a hot deli section and make items to order. While there are other Hmong restaurants in town, I like Egg Roll plus the best. It is in a Hmong neighborhood and most diners are of Hmong heritage.
I've had good lunches at Haymarket Grill downtown. Neat building interior and usually feature some local ingredients. They have a walnut burger that is enjoyable. A little more upscale of an experience than some of my other recs.
If you are visiting Wednesday through Sunday, hit The Nucleus on Water Street. Amazing breakfast, brunch and lunch fare. They close at 2 pm. Always an interesting and diverse crowd. Warning - it seats very few diners at one time.
The Foster Cheese Haus is now serving food by Nathan Berg, who was the chef at our dearly departed Nathan Berg. It is located out of town just off of I-94 at the Foster exit. A lot of work has been done on the building as well -- not your regular off ramp cheese joint.
Supermercado Sandoval on London Road has a small restaurant in the back with great food. If you want authenic Mexican with table service, go to Tacos Juanitas on Hamilton just off of Mall Dr.
For local ingredients when the the Farmer's Market (Phoenix Park) is closed, hit Just Local Food, in the old Johnny's Market at the corner of Washington and Farwell.
