Trying to remember

There was a resaturant - casual and rustic - either outside Boulder or Denver in the 1970s. It was an old house with a gravel parking lot and a big bar on the left side. I remember it being Mexican food, but maybe not. This causing me mental anguish. Someone pklease help!!

Sounds like the original Riviera, "The Riv", on Kentucky Ave in Glendale. It had all the elements you describe, and an aquarium behind the bar with a piranha. It has since been razed and rebuilt as Las Delicias. The original art deco sign remains...The carnitas and chile rellenos are still good, but the crab enchiladas are off the menu, unless you know someone...

Tosh's Hacienda (not sure if the original location is still around) was located in a large old Victorian house NE of downtown Denver. I don't remember a gravel parking lot - it was in the city. Otherwise, Boulder-Denver is a lot of real estate to try and cover!
