Going next Friday night w friends. First time for all of us even though Lumiere has been on my short list to try for MANY years. What is NOT to be missed on the menu. Anyone been there recently?

Been a while but i've always enjoyed Lumiere and don;t know their current menu. In the past, I think they did a great job on soups, steak and grilled scallops. It doesn't sound adventurous but I think Leviton has great technique and knows how to make things taste good. He has a great sense of complementing flavors and getting the most out of quality ingredients.

they do a pretty good job on diver scallops and mushrooms.

I'd recommend the tasting menu -- but your entire table needs to order it as well.

Returned to Lumiere last night w a friend. Service ,ambiance and food were ALL outstanding. We both ordered the halibut entree. It had a buttery ritz cracker crust and was on a bed of corn and smoked something. The fish itself was dreamy. Without question, the BEST fish dish I've had in a restaurant....EVER!! The bread was certainly homemade and came hot to the table. We shared a striped bass tartar app served w bread stix which was also very good. Skipped dessert, coffee was excellent as well. Bill for 2 $ 100 including tip (no booze). Had a $50 groupon so it was a bargain night at an outstanding restaurant. If you like seafood, don't miss this dish. Halibut is not easy to come by.

I'm glad you had such a memorable experience. We absolutely love Lumiere: nothing we've tried there has ever been less than very good, and we've dined there dozens of times. Several times we've felt like something we've had there is the best "X" we've ever had. I think their sides in particular are outstanding - a good variety of seasonal vegetables, creatively prepared. We always say that if it was downtown it would be mobbed. I'm so pleased for them that they're expanding and wish them luck.

Ah, yes, the famed French dish, fish a la Ritz Cracker.

i have eaten here several times as i live just up the hill, perhaps it is my lack of experience with upscale places, but i have to say tha food here is astonishingly rich. gastritis rich. i am a fair home cook and am not afraid of butter, that said, full meal here with dessert will invariably lead to stomach ache and night sweats. the kind of meal you feel like the fat is actually oozing out your pores. a touch snooty for me and pretty expensive, though people like that more than i. just not my kind of place, i guess.
