NYC equivalent of San Fran's ZUNI?

i recently had the pleasure of dining at Zuni in San Fran and have since been looking for something similar in NYC. i've been to Five Points a few times and find the food hit or miss. haven't tried Cookshop yet. any thoughts?

Just want to say that I have had nothing but lousy meals at Beacon. Granted the last one was a year ago, but still.

How about Hearth? Wonderful ingredients, creative without being fussy, very pleasant atmosphere, terrific wine list.
