i recently had the pleasure of dining at Zuni in San Fran and have since been looking for something similar in NYC. i've been to Five Points a few times and find the food hit or miss. haven't tried Cookshop yet. any thoughts?
cookshop is a good choice..there is also red cat.
Which characteristics of Zuni do you like?
If you're looking for comparable food, try Beacon.
Just want to say that I have had nothing but lousy meals at Beacon. Granted the last one was a year ago, but still.
How about Hearth? Wonderful ingredients, creative without being fussy, very pleasant atmosphere, terrific wine list.
Hearth was the one the first came to mind when I read the OP's post. Beacon - I don't think so.
