Places to impress a former boss and "grab a drink or coffee"?

Hi guys--

My former boss is coming into LA for a week and she's managed to squeeze in a few hours for me in spite of a tight meeting schedule. She said "let's grab a drink or coffee in the evening" and left it at that. I should note that we're both tend to lead towards "drink" rather than "coffee" in our daily lives, but either is fine. Now I get to choose the place. Has to be in Hollywood. Preferably something hip, or unique (but not pricey!) I want to take her someplace more memorable than a Starbucks. Any ideas? She's definitely into fancy beer, so I thought of Blue Palms as a possibility, though maybe that's too loud? Any help is appreciated!

If you going just for a drink in Hollywood, then why not go somewhere with a great view and some "real" architectural character - Yamashiro.

Great coffee, nice trendy decor and apparently they just got their liquor license.
