Cafe de Lu Lu Chinatown
Has anyone tried the new Cantonese Cafe in the basement of the Avana Lofts in Chinatown? I noticed the sign up when I was grabbing a Banh Mi from Mikes. I might give it a try for dinner tomorrow.

i stopped in a few weeks ago for breakfast
the menu is mostly hong kong style cafe food (cha chaan teng) with a small section of americanized chinese food. there is also a steam table where you can get 3 choices with rice for $5.50
i had hk style french toast with peanut butter and a pearl milk tea. the french toast wasn't on the menu but lulu generously offered to make it for me anyway. it was decent. i would give it another try and order something a little more substantial than breakfast

I finally tried Cafe Lu Lu for lunch today. I had a plate of braised lamb with tofu skin over rice. It comes with a "soup of the day".
Overall, it was disappointing. The braised lamb didn't seem like it was cooked long enough, so it didn't have much flavor and the meat was a bit tough. The portion also wasn't that big, esp for $7.50.
I ordered this exact same dish recently at Kantin at Super 88 food court. The Kantin version was far superior, and almost twice the size for pretty much the same price.
The rest of the items on Lu Lu's menu really isn't that appealing to me. I think I'll stick with Great Taste for Cantonese food. However, I may go to Lu Lu's for their afternoon tea menu (french toast in particular).
