Re: Onion Bagels [London]

Does anyone know where I can buy onion bagels in Central London? They used to sell the 4-pack NY onion bagels in Tescos, Sainsburys etc...but they no longer sell them.

  1. Ah, I was ready to say Carmelli in Golders Green until I read 'central London'. If you fancy making a trip north then the onion bagels there are quite good.

    1. I can't specifically remember what the onion bagels are like, but I sometimes buy decent bagels at Panzer's in St. John's Wood. They are much better than anything from the supermarkets and just a block from the Tube stop. There's also the shop on Brick Lane, but I don't think they are any better. Carmelli's are good but a trek.

I don't think they do onion bagels in Brick least, I've never seen them. They do onion platzels. They're great.

Carmelli isn't a trek if you live here!

Very true for many of you! I have the good luck to live down in Surrey. :-) Those platzels sound yummy - thanks for the tip. Is that like a braided bagel?

Platzels are great. It's basically a bialy, but softer like a roll, rather than chewy. Give it a go if you ever drop by, it's my favourite thing at the Beigel Bakery :)

Thanks... I really miss the bialys. They make a good change from a bagel. I'll try to get to Brick Lane one of these days..
