The Ollie's mystery solved

The former Ollie's at Bway and West 84th Street, long a staple in the neighborhood and shuttered since September, has now sprouted signs for "5 Napkin Burger".

We've seen work being done on the inside, but no guess as to when they'll open.

NICE work, CatoUWS!! Didn't know anything about this and have not yet tried 5 Napkin Burger Chelsea. Looking forward to having this in the nabe even if people don't love this place. I have heard some good reviews, though.

Personally I like 5 Napkin and kind of perplexed as to why there are so many haters. If you don't want to wait until 5 Napkin opens, Nice Matin (on 79th?) sells the original 5 Napkin burger.

You're welcome. Actually, the guys of Nice Matin are the ones who opened up 5 Napkin. At Nice Matin, they only carry the original burger with comte and sauteed onions. At 5 Napkin, they've got a selection of about 6 different burgers. I've eaten the original burger at both places and found it to be the same quality.

This is what I love about this site. I did not know this and neither did any of my friends who really like Nice Matin. Very excited to try both. Thanks again!

Great! So now we have *two* places within blocks of each other offering $15 hamburgers, and nowhere offering light, tasty shrimp dumplings (for less than half that price).

Is this progress? Or just Goldman Sachs bonus season?

That $15 burger is 10 oz of meat that comes with an order of fries. I think many people can make two meals out of it.

And if you really want Ollie's, the ones by Columbia and Lincoln Center are still open. Personally, I never liked the place (never had the shrimp dumplings, though). But to each his own.

Definitely in agreement...ollie's is by no means light or tasty. I'm not sad to see it go at all
