Good Chocolate Shops in the West Village
I recently moved to the west village and have been trying to find a good chocolate shop. Any good recommendations for places with assorted truffles / solid bars?
Thanks!

Li-Lac of course! They've been in business since 1923. They know exactly what they're doing!

Don't forget Kee's, which I believe is on Thompson Street- very unusual truffle flavors. I also second LiLac- to me the oldest and best chocolate store. They have moved to 8th Avenue just south of 14th Street, but the location is all they've changed- otherwise everything there is still perfect.

Seconding Kee's. Marie Belle is good but kind of hit or miss for me. Some flavors are great, some are not. NB that Kee's and MB are both in Soho so a further walk dependent on where in the WV the OP is.

Third Kee's. I love Kee's chocolates and it's always a pleasure to receive them, especially on Valentine's Day. I think the other stores pale in comparison.

Gastronomad,
If you're willing to venture a bit east, check out Bespoke Chocolates, on Extra Place, which is a little alley on 1st St., between 2nd Ave. and The Bowery. It's been open for about a year and all the products are hand made with no preservatives.

Absolutely Li-Lac! Everything is sumptuous beyond belief. My faves: the buttercream patties in original and raspberry, the plain truffles, the jordan crackers in milk and dark, even the kiddie lollipops. It's all fabulous.

Bespokes is quite nice and they have some intelligent flavor combinations, but I find them very derivative of Kee's. They are copying Kee, even down to the box, and regardless, I prefer Kee's.

Pure Dark at the corner of Bleecker & West 10th. It's amazing!
