dim sum in westchester this weekend in January 2010
Happy New Year!
A large handful of friends plans to have dim sum in westchester next weekend. In the past year, I've always chosen either Aberdeen or Central Seafood, and I've been quite content, but I am wondering if there are other options?
I also thought it was time to start a new dim sum post since the old one is long and seems pretty out-of-date.
Thanks.

We had lunch at Jade Garden on Saturday they were very busy. We had several staff take care of us, they were really trying to do their best. Suffice it to say service was a little sloppy however very friendly. The food was good too.

both of the above are adequate if you need to fill the craving quickly and without much of a drive but if you can do it Flushing is by far superior just more crowded and harder to get to for most...

re: armonkfoodie
Jade Garden isn't bad. Its not spectacular. Certainly not the dim sum you get in Flushing, but its o.k.
That being said, the service at Jade Garden is just terrible. I normally reserve judgement about service on this website unless its just terrible, and just voice my opinion on the food.
The wait was long, we received our dim sum about 30 minutes after our entrees. The check arrived and the waiter stood over our shoulder as I signed my credit card receipt. They brought us the wrong soda and charged us for it anyway, and even though we sent the soda back they still insisted they charge us for it.
Long story short, I doubt we'll be back.
The place down the street in the Best Buy mall in Hartsdale has better dim sum. And much better service.

I'm gonna have to chime in here. IMHO, any Flushing dim sum location is better than Central Seafood. In fact I find the quality of Aberdeen in WP to be better than Central Seafood.
You don't have to speak Chinese in Flushing (or Chinatown or Brooklyn Chinatown). The service staff at the larger establishments speak passable English. Plus ordering dim sum is a lot of looking and pointing anyways. Some places even have carts with pictures and descriptions on them.
