Vancouver Dinner Hot Spots
We are traveling from San Francisco just before the olympics with 4 couples. Suggestions on fun hot spots for dinner? From what I have gathered Bin 941 and Salt Tasting Room have been recommended. Prefer no Asian cusine.

Hmmm...by avoiding Asian you are kinda avoiding what the city is best at..
If "fun" is a requirement, I would add Sanafir, Society and Refuel to your list,
Only go to Refuel if your large group is willing to order family style. Refuel seems to have elements of brilliance but is hit and miss. The only way to get around that in a single visit seems to be to order a large cross section of the menu...
If you are willing to give Asian a chance I would try Kingyo Izakaya style restaurant...

A hot spot these days is the entire area of Gastown: Chambar (technically in Crosstown - and one of my favourite "fun" spots), Salt, The Diamond (for the great craft cocktails - but they serve Japanese fusion), Cobre (Latin American fusion), The Irish Heather, The Alibi Room (Vancouver's best craft beer pub), Pourhouse....etc. A Gastown crawl might be tough to do during the Olympics, but a lot of fun.

For fun and good food I love Market (finer dining but great vibe) and Coast (buzz atmosphere and good seafood)-my 2 favourite restaurant openings of 2009!

I've enjoyed the Long Table dinners at the Irish Heather - it's a fun way to meet some new people and enjoy some decent food (I've had the Cornish game hen and the duck, and both were more than worth the cost).

Will the long table series continue during Olympic Games season? I had emailed them directly to find out, but received no response.
