Help - need wedding cake near center city

This is for a friend of mine. (Not everyone knows about Chowhound!)

She needs to get a wedding cake somewhere in or near center city. South Philly would work, also.

Needs to serve about 15 people (or more). She is more interested in taste than looks.

First of all, everyone should know about Chowhound. Please pass the site name on to your friends. I tell everyone I know about it!

Secondly, it depends on what type of wedding cake they are looking for. If they are looking for a wedding cake that uses real buttercream and not 'the other stuff' I would recommend The Night Kitchen on Germantown Avenue in Chestnut Hill. They do an incredible job.

I second The Night Kitchen...particuarly yellow cake with lemon curd frosting.

Yes, I tell everyone about Chowhound - but some people just aren't as interested in food and restaurants. Maybe if I weren't, I wouldn't need to be on a diet so often!

We got our cake through Miel on 17th St, buttercream, very plain, but phenomenal taste!

Termini's has a heck of a good cake and they do beautiful things with buttercream icing if you are feeling traditional wedding cake!

We got our wedding cake there in July 2007 - YUM. I can't say that loud enough or often enough. The layer we froze (for anniversary eatin') was just as tasty as the layers we ate at our wedding...
