Beware of Sai Ram. It is tainted with Americanization, many dishes are unauthentic, have additives added in it and has wheat infiltrated in many dishes that needn't be. Go to India Darbar on W. Wisconsin instead. You won't be disappointed. It is the better of the two IMHO.

Carmella's on 716 North Casaloma Drive. Go early or be prepared to wait. Also if Shima is working at Nakashima's see if he will do Omakase. He won't do it on Sat or Fri.

I can recommend Casablanca, on College; it's a nice sit-down Latin restaurant, w/ good service.

There are several decent places along College Ave that we've enjoyed (RIP Peggy's), especially Frank's Pizza Palace for the ambiance.
...and several chain restaurants.

Hopefully people that still live in the area can make some more current recommendations.

apollon was good(greek)..the japanese place was not..there was a strange bar/restaurant just a couple stores down the street from the japanese place that was darn good, don't remember the name but it will be obvious when you see it ..the interior is pretty crazy. it think it had a german bent menu
